Dan Burke At Home with Jim and Joy Pinto

Today, we bring you a video treat from EWTN and Jim and Joy Pinto’s program “At Home with Jim and Joy”. In this episode, Jim and Joy interview Dan Burke, the Executive Director of the National Catholic Register, and founder of this site, and get him to briefly open up about his journey into the Catholic faith and talk about how the mystical tradition of the Church played a big part in that journey home. In the show, Dan considers the spiritual life, prayer, aridity and dryness, spiritual reading, and, in particular, Carmelite spirituality and the Doctors of the Church.

He also discusses the theology of encounter, mysticism, charisms, alignment with the magisterium and submission to the Church as aspects of Catholic spirituality.

Dan goes on to explain the role of a spiritual director and how directors are important in uncovering blind spots in our spiritual lives, how they help us deal with sin, and assist us in growing in wisdom. He addresses characteristics of a good spiritual director.

Dan talks about his most recent books, which you can find here by clicking on each title below:

He also mentions Dr. Anthony Lilles’ new book, Fire from Above, which can be found by clicking here.

So, without further ado, here is Dan Burke on “At Home with Jim and Joy”!
