Teresa of Avila Society

Dear Friends,

I recently had the extraordinary privilege of being the first ever Catholic speaker at a very large Evangelical conference. You might be surprised to know that they asked me to speak on the wisdom of St. Teresa of Avila regarding the progress of prayer from those just beginning to pray to those who know the sublime reality of contemplative prayer.

This is the kind of groundbreaking opportunity the wind of the Holy Spirit is bringing to us at the Avila Foundation these first days of the Year of Our Lord 2016, the Jubilee Year of Mercy.  I continue daily to be amazed and humbled at the miracles God provides our apostolate, which are like stepping stones and lamps over rough and dangerous terrain. In all things, we trust the Hands of the Master to lead us.

Truly, it is your support that has made all this possible – you are meeting our Holy Mother Teresa’s call to be the hands and feet of Christ in this world – you are merciful Samaritans. My thanks go out to all our blessed donors whose giving is changing and nourishing the hearts of millions! It is with this gratitude that I lift you up in prayer every day.

In terms of the incredible fruits of your prayer and financial support, we have exciting news!

Avila’s 480 Circle of Care

First, I want to share the good news that we have raised $5,000 of the $6,000 we need to close the gap between monthly expenses and monthly giving. If you want to be a part of the 480 Circle of Spiritual Care, please give your recurring gift today of only $40 per month.

AND… Incredibly, we now have 9 of 10 hoped-for members of our new Avila Annual Fund Leadership Council – that represents a total of $90,000 in pledges over the next five years which our faith-filled philanthropic leaders have committed to giving us a place to stand in the Lord’s service. I praise God and I thank all of our new members…

If you would like to be the TENTH member, I invite you to email me at or click here to give a gift or 5-year pledge of $10,000::

The Teresa of Avila Society Webpage and Direct Mail Campaign

We have so much we want to do to foster the growth of the Societsainte_theereese_santa_teresa_de_avila_por_Gerard_Fran_ois_oleo_sobre_lienzo_modelo_madame_Juliette_R_camier_1827_O495y – from building a webpage for the promotion of devotion to St. Teresa to creating a direct mail program to reach more souls to join in an online community of spiritual support and encouragement!

We are looking for five major donors willing to give $50,000 each to make this great work of mercy happen. I can honestly say that for every dollar that is invested in this work, many more will be raised for the Foundation’s work in bringing authentic spirituality to Catholics around the world. It is an investment in the future of the spirituality of the Church.

If the Lord is speaking to your heart and you want to find out how your leadership gift can help us, please email me at and I will be happy to speak with you personally to discuss our plans.

Every Gift Counts

Remember – a gift in ANY amount qualifies you to become a member of the Teresa of Avila Society and to receive a holy card from us. Please consider a sacrificial Lenten gift to our ministry which is reaching so many souls!
Thank you from the depth of my heart.

I think we live in a world that thinks money should be used to fight hunger or homelessness or provide job training. But donate to help people’s spiritual formation? For our materialistic, consumer driven society the idea is absurd if not incomprehensible. But what is the price tag to put on a soul or on a soul’s relationship to God? Spiritual Direction.Com, the Avila Institute and Divine Intimacy Radio are all working to fill the same needs. They are all geared to renewing the Church by bringing Catholics back to the wellspring of the wisdom of the saints and the 2000 year old spiritual tradition of the saints. This work is vital to the New Evangelization, because people cannot give what they do not have. Search around. There are very few places like this, devoted to helping Catholic men and women to deepen their spiritual lives. I am so happy to support this work. I had done some spiritual reading and scouring the internet looking for resources that would teach me how to grow in my prayer life and learn how to meditate and practice mental prayer. Then I found Spiritual Direction. Com and the Avila Institute. I felt like I hit a goldmine! Here was great, meaty teaching on the spiritual life committed to being true to Catholic Tradition and the Magisterium of the Church. I soon applied and became a student of the Avila Institute and do a small part in financially supporting this apostolate. I truly believe this is a great work of the Holy Spirit and am blessed and excited to be a part of it. In a world that is full of spiritual fads, charletans, and nonsense, we are in need of a place where we can learn about and grow in our spiritual lives. We need a place whose spiritual compass points to true north. Spiritual Direction. Com, the Avila Institute and Divine Intimacy Radio are unique oases where we can refresh our souls knowing we are in a safe place that is providing authentic Catholic teaching. I encourage everyone to join me in supporting this great work of God’s Spirit in our day. Only eternity will show the great impact this work is having. By giving you are storing up spiritual treasure for yourself and others that will last forever.

  • Just 2 more years then I promise to donate part of my first paycheck! Law school delayed by life’s twists and turns in recent years.

From the depths of my heart, I would like to say thank you to all of you who contribute to the Teresa of Avila Society, and help Dan, with his tireless efforts to bring souls to Christ. When someone has only known emotional brokenness for most of their entire life, and because that life, for all intents and purposes did not have an understanding of God in it, they sometimes feel hopeless and desperate enough to end that existence. Should someone be exposed, even briefly, to, Divine Intimacy Radio, or Avila Institute for Spiritual Formation, they may see a glimmer of hope, and a God who desires more for them than the brokenness they are accustomed to.
Grasping onto this new-found hope and being given the knowledge and tools to go deeper into the spiritual life, and truly finding God for the first time, can be life changing. Examples might include someone who literally has no voice, not with family, peers, etc., to being able to speak as a Lector, making presentations for evangelization; to go from being limited to what they do for God, to being unafraid to say yes to whatever he may ask; to go from just knowing God’s truth, to being able to share it with others. As I said previously, and again, Thank you; because, I am one of the faithful poor, a student at Avila Institute,
who Dan often speaks of. Your donations provide for me, that life-line I so desperately needed. Because of you, I am now grounded in my Spiritual life, and no longer experience the emotional brokenness, only the desire to grow in holiness.
