A Conversation Between Demons

Most people are not aware that conversations between demons actually happen. One record of such a conversation between demons is available to us through the brilliant mind of C.S. Lewis and the Screwtape Letters.

VitrailFlorac01060906Demon between demonsLewis reveals that Screwtape is a senior demon who is teaching a younger demon to tempt a Christian to sin, despair, and faithlessness. Lewis’ insight into the reality of demonic temptation is extraordinary and powerful. This is why the book has sold MILLIONS of copies.

We are happy to report that a C.S. Lewis scholar and brilliant writer and communicator in his own right, Paul McCusker, will join the Avila Institute School of Spiritual Formation this Spring to teach a course entitled:

“Spiritual Warfare in Modern Times – C.S. Lewis and the Screwtape Letters.”

Paul will use the book the “The Annotated Screwtape Letters” which he recently completed in partnership with the C.S. Lewis Foundation. (By the way, this is a beautiful book and would be a great Christmas gift).

Beyond this fantastic course, we are also excited to announce a number of new School of Spiritual Formation courses being offered this Spring that will provide you with life changing wisdom and insight into your spiritual journey:

  • Introduction to St. Teresa of Avila (March 28th will be her 500th Anniversary)

“One record of such a conversation…” makes it sound as if this is a conversation which actually happened. But the Screwtape Letters, as amusing, interesting, and thought-provoking as it is, is nonetheless a work of fiction. It isn’t really a record of anything.

    • Yes – it is presumed that because millions have read the book that the reader understands the obvious.
