The Joy of the Gospel

for post on the joy of the gospelThe Joy of the Gospel! Father Michael Najim discusses Pope Francis' Apostolic Exhortation Evangelii Gaudium. He highlights paragraph three of the document, in which the Pope invites all Christians everywhere to a renewed personal encounter with Jesus Christ, or openness to letting Him encounter them, each day because it is in the encounter with Christ that we experience that interior joy which the Holy Spirit wishes to give to each and every one of us. And that, in that joy, other people are led to follow Christ because folks are attracted to that. In other words, they want what we have: that happiness, that peace. It opens up a conversation in which we can share that we have this joy and this peace because of our relationship with Jesus Christ. Although there are times when we will be sad, because there are, indeed, sad times in our lives, here should not be a consistent sadness in our hearts if we are disciples of Christ.
