Delight to the devil: How to do it!

Delight to the Devil: How to do it!

Saint Alphonsus Liguori on how to give delight to the devil!

Delighting the Devil!

Delighting the Devil!

“Let us remember that the devil labors hard to disturb us at the time of meditation, in order to make us abandon it. Let him, then, who omits mental prayer on account of distractions be persuaded that he gives delight to the devil… let us, then, never give up meditation however great our distractions may be. St. Francis de Sales says that if, in mental prayer, we should do nothing else than continually banish distractions and temptations, the meditation would be very well made. Before him, St. Thomas taught that involuntary distractions do not take away the fruit of mental prayer.”

distractions, bad visions.. so on .. temptations.. stand firm… flee to Jesus Christs savior and reedemers name… stay positive in prayer.. for the devil gets in ones prayers if worried or anxious.. pray blessings healings on those who hurt you , keep in Gods will be done… not mine… offer all struggles for conversion of hearts and souls to Jesus Christ.. use the devils work as a suffering to save souls…

    • Been having a horrid week… What you write about offering it up for the conversion of souls is so comforting. Makes me grateful even. Often feel bad that I can do so little for Him. Am glad to know this can be chance to do even a little bit more. Thank you.

Thank you for sharing this from St. Aphonsus…it has totally encouraged me in my Examen of at night.

  • A wonderful advice….yes distractions and racy thoughts are a nightmare when one is praying, whether vocal, mental prayers or meditation….but Jesus advises us to persevere….that way the devil fails

If the devil tempts you with a particular distraction, then just do the opposite, says st Ignatius, agire contra. If he tempts you to shorten your prayer time, then prolong it

    • Now that is advice I can get behind and it is dead on target with St. Ignatius.
