Dear Friends,

Happy Advent to you all! The class is finally ready! Below you will find a link to register for our inaugural Prayer and the Interior Life class. We have scheduled two Saturday sessions at 10:00 AM Central starting on January 7th and will schedule more once we evaluate the best approach after the first two sessions. We will have enough room for 100 participants and more than 200 have expressed interest so sign up ASAP in order to avoid missing the opportunity. For those who have expressed interest in the past, I have done my best to include you in updates if you initially indicated your interest. Even so, our capacity is very limited and we may have missed you during our juggling of all the necessary elements to bring this and all we do together for you. Also, there is a list of Frequently Asked Questions provided below.

My prayer is that it will be a blessing to you and provide us with good feedback regarding how we might improve and continue to provide this service to those seeking to deepen their relationship with Christ and love for His Church.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you have not already done so, it is a requirement for attendance to fill out this anonymous Questionnaire on the spiritual life HERE.

For those who have provided the financial assistance necessary to launch this project THANK YOU!

For those who cannot participate in some manner, please pray for all involved.

Pax Christi,

Frequently Asked Questions

What topics on prayer will the group be instructed on?

  • Motivations to Prayer and the Interior Life
  • Self-Knowedge and Reflection
  • Navigating the Interior Life – The Three Phases of the Spiritual Growth
  • More topics will be determined based on information from the first two classes

How long will the sessions last?

  • Approximately 45 minutes of instruction and approximately 15 minutes of questions and answers.

Will this class reflect any particular spirituality of the Church?

  • Yes – when I am leading I will always lean more towards a Carmelite perspective but my grounding in prayer and the spiritual life runs down the center of traditional Catholic spirituality that reflects the Catechism of the Catholic Church and the teachings of the spiritual doctors of the Church.

How many meetings will there be?

  • We have scheduled two Saturday sessions on January 7th and 14th and and more will be scheduled after we assess the areas of improvement from the first effort.

Will there be a fee for this program?

  • There will be no fee for the first participants. We have not determined an approach yet for future participants. Our desire is to provide this for free to all who desire it. That said, our funds are limited and we depend upon donors so we will need to gauge how much support we can raise and thereby how much we can help.

Also, what if I miss a session? Can it be repeated or can I find it on-line at a later date?

  • I don’t know how this will work yet.

Will there be “homework”, papers, etc.?

  • Not initially – if there is it will not be mandatory but your time in purgatory may increase if there is and you fail to do it.

This is great, but I think it should remain free for everyone, not just those who were able to get in on the first incarnation of the course.

    • Kcarter2221

I agree that in a perfect world it should be available to all who want it, but bandwidth costs money.

  • Jan England

Sadly I work every Saturday. Any chance of ever doing this on a Sunday or evening?

    • Possibly – still working on the miracle of getting it off the ground on Saturday! Prayers

  • Mom4JesusJMJ

How long do you expect each of these sessions to be? I’m very interested but with children at home, it’s hard to get a long period of time w/out interruption so, before I register, I’m curious about the length of time of the sessions. Thank you & God bless!!!

    • Approximately One hour

      • Cjbruner17

        starting at what time?

        • Did I miss that on the post?

          • cjb

            and with that said….. i guess i did… hummm

  • AngelsofGod102

sounds great but I work in retreat ministry and not available on Saturdays.

  • Sus

having trouble with survey getting past questions 1 and 2 — anyone else?

    • What is the trouble? Maybe I can help.

  • Chriscas

Do I need any special software (such as Go to Meeting) to participate?

    • We will use “Go to Webinar” but it should provide what you need when you register.

  • ThirstforTruth

God bless your endeavors! I cannot at this time participate because of a time issue…cannot be sure to be free at designated time and the possibility of “homework” is daunting to me as a senior…of course if you guarantee time off in Purgatory? might have to seriously consider that!!! Again, God’s grace be with you and your undertaking.

  • Kimpizz

I will be traveling on Saturday and will have access to a phone but not my computer. Can I still participate in the Webinar? Thanks

    • Technically possible but probably not beneficial.

  • hope&grace

Thank you for making this happen, I am thrilled they are on Saturday and hope that it works for many. I don’t think any time is perfect for everyone. Most of all let’s pray for a fruitful and successful formation in the spiritual life!

  • LizEst

    Thank you for this, Dan.

I had hoped to participate but cannot do so now. Please give my slot to the next person on the waiting list.

…and may God abundantly bless you and all the participants in this venture.

  • Claire

I checked my email too late to get in but please keep me on the list for next time. This sounds good.

Thank you, Dan.  But sadly I was down with Food Poisoning since Monday and I have just opened my Laptop.  How I would have wished to participate.  But I pray for the success of this wonderful Apostolate to your Devoted Members.

Dan, this FAQ and answer is a hoot! Such a Catholic and Carmelite-ish quip!
I can’t wait, really looking forward to this!

  • Patti Day

I took the survey even though I am too late to register. The questions gave me a clearer insight of where I see myself in my spiritual journey at this moment in time.
