How do I find “The Better Part” in Advent?

Dear Friends,

You will notice tomorrow that there is a shift in approach with The Better Part posts. Instead of posting the meditation units in sequential order, based on reader feedback, we have decided to post them in keeping with the Liturgical Calendar and the readings for Mass. What that means is that the post you get each Wednesday will be for the scripture reading for the coming Sunday. That way, if you rely on this post for your meditation each week, you will find yourself much better prepared for the Gospel reading next Sunday.

Similarly, a reader asked recently, “How can I use The Better Part to prepare for Liturgical Seasons etc.?” (thanks for the Question Glenn) As with the change above, because The Better Part covers every verse in all four gospels, there is no better way to prepare, pray, and participate with the Church in her glorious seasons of worship. There are two ways to do this:

  1. Go to Appendix 2 in the back of The Better Part and use the Chart provided to follow the Liturgical calendar.
    or
  2. Click on our EWTN Mass Reading link and simply look up the Gospel reading for the day and then find that reading in The Better Part. The link is always on the home page of the blog in the middle column a few screens down. For me, this is the easiest approach.

If you don't own a copy of The Better Part, just click on one of the book title links on this post and buy yourself a Christmas gift! Also, there is no better time than to do the same for someone you love!

Seek Him – Find Him – Follow Him,

Dan
